 Special Offer

Welcome to my blog Dr. Schaub.  Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions about yourself, your book, The Fear and Anxiety Solution – A Breakthrough Process for Healing and Empowerment with your Subconscious Mind, and your business.

Q. Tell us about your latest book and why you wrote it?
A.  Anxiety is the most common mental health challenge in the U.S. More than 50 million people have been diagnosed with anxiety disorders. Countless others continue to struggle with low self-esteem, isolation, insomnia, and other debilitating effects of anxiety. Most people who suffer from anxiety feel powerless in the face of these overwhelming emotions. They feel flawed and stuck. The Fear and Anxiety Solution introduces a new, self-empowering perspective on fear and anxiety, one that helps readers understand and connect to the innate wisdom and healing potential of these emotions. This book is a step-by-step guide that explains how to transform fear and anxiety into powerful allies, messengers, and healing catalysts that lead to greater confidence, self-worth, and success.

Q.  What draws you to write about Fear and Anxiety?
A.  As a physician and molecular-biologist I became increasingly fascinated by the role of our emotions when it comes to health and healing. Studies have shown that positive emotions can boost the immune system, decrease diabetes, and improve heart conditions. On the other hand, negative emotions, such as stress, anxiety, and depression, have the opposite effects and can cause serious health problems.

The problem is that we usually interpret negative emotions such as fear and anxiety, as flaws and weaknesses that need to be overcome, managed, or suppressed, rather than trying to understand their deeper meaning. In other words, the real problem is that we don’t know how to listen or relate to our emotions, let alone consciously guide and work with it. This is why it is so important to learn how to consciously work with the source of our emotions – our subconscious mind.

Q.  What is your writing process like? Do you map the whole thing out or do you just let it unfold?
A.   It is a mixture of both. I start with a rough outline on what I would like to share but then in the process remain open to add aspects I hadn’t thought of before.

Q.  You have a very interesting medical background.  Can you tell us more?
A. As a physician in a huge cardiology unit at the University of Munich, Germany, most of my patients were suffering from strokes or heart attacks. Although an increasing number of studies have demonstrated how stress and anxiety could promote cardiovascular diseases, the emotional challenges of our patients were neither investigated nor addressed in the treatment plans. There was just not enough time to sit down with the patients and talk about their lives and how their illnesses were impacting them both mentally and emotionally.

After several years, I accepted a scholarship for a postdoctoral research position at the University of Washington in Seattle, which, after four years, gave me a PhD in molecular biology. As a physician, I was trained to view the body as rather fragile and prone to failure. Science, however, illuminated that each and every cell of our bodies has an intelligence and sheer unlimited potential to grow, adapt, and heal. The ability of our body to maintain trillions of cells in a delicate equilibrium of growth, healing, and death is truly ingenious and suggests that there is a regulating consciousness that connects and directs all of our cells. For me, the next logical questions were what is this regulating consciousness, and how can we access and work with it to utilize our innate healing potential as effectively as possible? Which is why I became interested in the mind-body connection and in particular the subconscious mind.

Q.  What kind of research was involved in writing your book?
A.  This book describes the break-through and empowerment program I have developed, which has helped thousands of my clients to overcome fear and anxiety. It also draws on studies from the fields of psychology, epidemiology and molecular biology.

Q.   Have there been any authors in particular, that inspired your writing?
A.   There are of course many amazing authors and teachers, whose work I deeply admire and continue to learn from. For The Fear and Anxiety Solution, I felt especially inspired by the work of Bernie Siegel, Rollo May and Aaron Antonovsky.

Q.  What would be the top five, (or 3 or 1 or however many) things you would tell aspiring authors?
A.  Don’t let anyone discourage you from writing a book. There is a reason why you feel inspired to share your story or insights. It is your unique offering to the world and you can be sure that there are many people out there waiting to read what you have to say. Write as often as you can and set yourself a “joy-line” by when you want to have at least a first draft completed.

For many people writing can bring up a sense of vulnerability. When you feel insecure and afraid of exposing yourself, think about the people who will benefit from reading your book. Remember, ultimately you are writing for them and not only for yourself. And if you are still anxious – read The Fear and Anxiety Solution.

Again, thanks Dr. Schaub for taking the time to share your knowledge with us. We appreciate you and your work.
Good luck with your current and future publications.
